Description
Number 10, a classic, Wilhelminian-style building, is certainly one of the most beautiful houses on the lovely Göhrener Straße. The apartment house consists of a front building and a left side wing, and has a total of 32 apartments, including the converted attic apartments. The entrance to the building is tasteful yet restrained, as is the green façade. The inner courtyard is pleasantly landscaped and has both a covered bin area and numerous bicycle parking spaces. The house was built around 1900, renovated in the early 2000s, and is in a very good condition. The apartment offered for sale here is located on the ground floor of the building’s left side wing. You enter the apartment via a small hallway. The bathroom leads off to the left. Next to it is the living room with an open kitchen. Walking through the living room, you reach the small bedroom. The bathroom has a walk-in shower as well as space for a washing machine and dryer. The two rooms and the hallway all have hardwood floors. The apartment is in good condition, although woodchip wallpaper and the kitchen may no longer be to everyone's taste. The apartment is heated by gas central heating.
Location
Göhrener Straße, with its special turn-of-the-last-century architectural ensemble known as the “Göhrener Ei,” or ‘Göhrener Egg’ is a quiet and charming side street that connects Senefelder Straße with Raumerstraße. It is located in the middle of the so-called “Helmholtzkiez”, and the lovely square that gives the neighborhood its name is located just on the other side of the block, approx. 300 m away. In recent years, the area between Prenzlauer Allee and Schönhauser Allee, and Danzigerstrasse and Stargarderstrasse has developed into a kind of model neighborhood for Prenzlauer Berg, epitomizing the ideal of the laid back yet stylish macchiato-drinking Prenzelberg lifestyle. Here, you’ll find hip Japanese restaurants, yoga, reiki and shiatsu, homey bars that harken back to the area’s artistic, East Berlin past, a stylish furniture boutique, wine stores, one of the best cheese stores in the city. Just on the other side of Prenzlauer Allee, you’ll reach the planetarium, an ensemble of East German highrises, and a wonderful, newly-renovated public pool in the expansive Thälmannpark. It's impossible not to love this mix. In terms of value, the Helmholtzkiez has long since caught up with the Kollwitzviertel. Nevertheless, history plays a role here -- and provides an extra pinch of coolness. But which of these two delightful neighbrhoods you like more is ultimately a matter of taste. The public transport connections here are also excellent. The M2 and M10 streetcars stop on Danziger Allee and Prenzlauer Allee respectively. This means you can quickly get to both Friedrichshain and Mitte. The Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station and the Eberswalder Straße U-Bahn station are just 10 minutes away (or you can take the streetcar).
